Bio: 

Ramona Rea is a consultant in the commercialization of novel technologies in the food & nutrition, life sciences, and medical technologies sectors, conducting preliminary market assessments, feasibility studies, and business development. Using primary and secondary market research, she assesses the commercial potential of innovations for academic institutions, start-ups, and inventors. She also acts as a volunteer mentor with UBC’s Venture Founder program, coaching faculty, student, and staff founders on building their startups.

While at the University of Toronto’s tech transfer office, Ramona assessed life science invention disclosures for their commercial potential and commercialized selected early-stage technologies. She has also worked in biomedical research funding and managing grant programs at the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Banting Research Foundation.

Ramona holds an MSc in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Toronto and an MBA from York University.
